In November, United Patent Research attended the SEMA tradeshow in Las Vegas. At this show Patrick Ralston, the President of UPR, made contact with several manufacturers in the automotive supply industry. Upon returning to UPR Headquarters, Mr. Ralston proceeded to send lists of relevant inventions to the manufacturers he contacted at the SEMA show. A Canadian company located in Ontario recently responded by signing UPR’s non-disclosure agreement and requested additional information about four inventions. United Patent Research’s licensing affiliate, Universal Licensing, then contacted the company with additional information about the four inventions the company inquired about. United Patent Research and Universal Licensing will continue to work together on this promising manufacturer lead. It should be noted that many of the tradeshows attended by United Patent Research are not open to the general public and therefore UPR’s tradeshow activities often offer inventors a unique “window of opportunity”. Presently, United Patent Research is preparing to attend the very significant Consumer Electronic Show which will be held in Las Vegas this January.

At these tradeshows the representative of UPR offers the corporate attendees an opportunity to review inventions contained in UPR’s extensive inventory of patented inventions. After the International Home and Housewares Show in Chicago this year, a company emailed United Patent Research saying: “Yes, we are always looking for new products. You know its not easy finding the right product. If we find a winner its good for all. Let’s find one!”  United Patent Research is maintaining contact with this interested company in hopes securing a beneficial licensing agreement for one or more of UPR’s clients.

United Patent Research client Douglas P. is carefully monitoring the progress in negotiations with a major company regarding his unique shower liner. The negotiations have reached the stage where specific royalty percentages (i.e., monetary payments) are being discussed. Douglas is heavily relying on the experience and legal expertise of Universal Licensing, the licensing affiliate of United Patent Research, to guide him through the negotiation process. Douglas’ invention, the Zip N Clean, is a patented new design for a shower liner. The unique design of this shower liner permits the liner to easily be removed for washing without opening the grommets or the shower curtain support rings. After washing, the liner can be quickly re-attached to the shower curtain support rings in one easy step.

A major European company has communicated to United Patent Research client David P. that their review of his invention should be completed by the end of October. David’s invention, the Power Brush, is a powered cleaning/polishing tool especially designed to be effective in hard to reach areas such as car/truck wheel walls. Versatility of this invention is assured by the use of interchangeable, rotating cleaning/polishing heads and rechargeable batteries. United Patent Research client Michael M. is very pleased that a major company has decided to build a prototype of his invention in order to evaluate its potential for inclusion in their product line. Already, detailed construction drawings have been completed for the prototype. The invention, the Portable Sea Container Liftgate, is designed to facilitate the rapid and convenient loading of sea containers from cargo ships to transport trucks.

A company specializing in innovative outdoor products has shown initial interest in the Open Fire/Outdoor Portocooker invented by United Patent Research clients Ernest and Betty B. After signing a proper confidentiality agreement, this company was supplied with additional information by Universal Licensing, the licensing affiliate of United Patent Research. The Open Fire/Outdoor Portocooker is a portable, outdoor, open fire grill that enables users to effectively grill food without getting dangerously close to the open fire. While this unit is great for all types of outdoor grilling, it is especially useful for the elderly, the disabled, and for individuals who have any type of physical condition which would prevent them from getting too close to an open fire.

Progressive International, a manufacturer of cooking/kitchen products, has agreed to review the innovative wine cooler invented by United Patent Research client Michael H. As Progressive International signed a non-disclosure agreement promising confidentiality, detailed information was sent to them for their review. Michael’s invention, the Chillynder, is a versatile wine cooler that is just at home at a campsite as on a dinner table. Jokari, US Inc. has shown initial interest in the innovative Can Closer developed by United Patent Research clients Joseph S. and Elizabeth S. Jokari is a well established company specializing in unique and helpful products for the home. After this company signed a non-disclosure agreement promising confidentiality, they were provided with details concerning this practical invention. The Can Closer is an inexpensive accessory for canned beverages such as canned soda, canned beer, etc. The device permits the user to easily and effectively close and seal an opened beverage can. It’s always a good day for an inventor when the inventor receives interest in his or her invention. United Patent Research client Dale J. has received initial interest in his portable lavatory which he calls Portable Privacy. The company Shore Canvas signed a non-disclosure agreement and requested detailed information about Dale’s invention. As this company agreed to receive all invention information in confidence, Universal Licensing, the licensing affiliate of United Patent Research, promptly supplied additional information about this new invention. Portable Privacy is an innovative portable lavatory providing privacy in emergency situations. This unit can easily be carried in a car or truck.
