As a consumer of Internet based products, you need to be informed. A number of online websites allow anyone (legitimate consumers or not) to create and post reviews about products and services. Included in the legitimate review companies is Rip-Off Report, a web-based review site with a notorious and fearful past.

  • Public Spam Report: Google Your Honeymoon with Rip-Off Report has to Stop, written by Chris Bennett explains how Rip-Off Report does not scan or proof read their "User Generated Content", and that the company has been accused of all sorts of shady things including racketeering, black mail, and rip offs.
  • Rip-Off Report is Ripping of Those Reported, written by Andy Beal showcases some of the fake and flase information written on Rip-Off Report about Googles founders, and how Rip-Off Report has been unwilling to remove the reviews.
  • The Anatomy of a RipOff Report Lawsuit, written by Sara Bird, Esquire is an article pointing out the many legal angles of the Rip-Off Report complaint database, and highlights the many different lawsuits that have been filed against Rip Off Report.
  • Accusations that Rip-Off Report is just an Extortion Business, by randfish explores Chris Bennett's article further, explaining that Rip-Off Report violates much of Google's Terms of Service in an effort to rank highly on Google for reviews that it does not validate, and may in fact write itself.
  • The Real Rip-Off Report is an investigative reporter's view on Rip-Off Report, and its founder, Ed Magedson. Written by Sarah Fenske, the best quote in the entire article is " But if you're willing to pay, Ed Magedson just might be willing to talk."
  • EZRipOffLawsuit is a website for, and about, the companies that Rip-Off Report and Ed Magedson have ruined online, and the site explains how Rip-Off Report posted fake and negative reviews about the ICA. Other important website links are at the bottom of the page.

Always make sure to check your sources when using them to make important purchasing or life decisions. Rip-Off Report is clearly not a good choice for unbiased and factual information.
